This is StandingStart, a newsletter “Resource For Those Starting A New Job In Horse Racing." StandingStart is a free weekly newsletter to inspire, instruct, and inform horse racing job prospects. The ad-free StandingStart newsletter will be delivered on Tuesdays.

Introduction

Welcome to the first edition of the StandingStart newsletter. I, Stu Slagle, am this publication’s editor and a racing official. From my twenty-plus years of industry experience in getting hired and hiring, connecting a person to a new horse racing job is not always quick and easy. This newsletter aims to facilitate horse racing job seekers to start a new position.

While the format and content of the StandingStart newsletter will undoubtedly evolve, the closing section, Opportunities, will serve as a horse racing industry aggregator of job opportunities. Whether hiring managers or human resources representatives, employers are encouraged to forward text descriptions of their upcoming employment needs to me (ovals at yahoo dot com).

The Opportunities section will also include selected online job postings. The job opportunities will be listed chronologically with the newly posted first.
